Today I want to showcase the Stampin’ Up! Birds & Branches Bundle. When I got this set I was excited about the birds, and instantly thought about how I could make them look somewhat realistic. I’ll show you in detail how I did this, then I’ll show you how I made the rest of the card.
Stamping & Coloring
When I planned out stamping the birds from the Birds & Branches Bundle, I knew I would have to use my Stampin’ Write Markers. I wanted to get a 2-tone effect so if I used the Basic Black & Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Markers and colored the stamp correctly, I would then be able to come in afterward with my Stampin’ Blends to achieve the look I wanted. As shown in the video below, once the birds were colored I could then go in and feather some different colors to achieve more realistic looking feathers for the birds. As you can see in the photo below I feathered in a lot of lines to try to create what I saw in the inspiration photo I saw on Google.

I had a hard time when I thought about trying to add the white to the bird. I suppose I could have tried my hand at the Stampin’ Chalk Marker, but I was nervous that I might ruin the image. So I took the easy way out and just went with a blue and black chickadee. I’m not disappointed with the results. As my artistry gets more experienced I may attempt the white at some point. Let me know what you would have done to achieve more white in this adorable little Chickadee from the Birds & Branches Suite.
Adding other elements
I did use some elements I had already stamped. When I made the “Forever Fern Stamp Blending” Card with the Forever Greenery Suite I stamped a few extra elements and stored them for later. I was happy to pull these out and use them on this card.

I also used the 2019 – 2020 In Color Faceted Dots as the blue ones were perfect for this card! I’m so happy I buy and hoard so many supplies, then when I need the perfect matching element I normally have it somewhere in my stash. All the supplies are listed below.
I created a VIDEO TUTORIAL so you can see step-by-step video tutorial for you
Question: Do you feel confident enough to try this technique to make your birds look more realistic?
Let me know in the comments below. I love hearing from you! 💗

I listed the Stampin’ Up! Marker Set I used below in the supply list. The markers are only available in sets. The Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers I used Early Espresso, Soft Suede, and Crumb Cake.
