I got my Paper Pumpkin later than most this month which I was ok with as I was not well and didn’t actually even unbox it until the Paper Pumpkin Zoom Night this past Wednesday. Anyhow!, I’m so excited to share my July 2021 Paper Pumpkin Alternative with you today 🙂
The moment I opened this kit and saw a few of the cards I immediately thought Christmas! Could it be mainly due in part to the fact that I just uploaded a Christmas In July Card, or could it be because the background looked like Christmas to me? Either way, the only thing missing was a scene. I knew right away that I was going to use my new Penguin Place Stamps (They’re in the new Aug – Dec 2021 Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog) Come back on August 3rd to see all the new product links updated.
Cutting out the lantern (using scissors from behind the image) made the card look even more “Christmasy”. Then, using the retired Softly Falling Embossing Folder I managed to emboss only the front flap of the card. This added the feeling of snow falling on the card, which was perfect. A little silver twine wrapped around the window frame secured with some Blue Adhesive Backed Gems finished the front off perfectly.
I had a heck of a time figuring out the Penguin Punch but finally managed to get it the way I wanted. Did you happen to see me unbox that punch? Oh my gosh! We all had a good laugh over that. Having no clue what the left image was, the things people said it looked like in the live stream was quite comical. The Snowy White Velvet Sheets were perfect for the penguin’s belly. I knew those sheets would be perfect for critters and I was right. The Be Dazzling Cardstock (Sale-A-Bration 2021) was perfect for the penguin feet too!
For the inside, I merely cut some white cardstock to look like hills. There are a variety of dies I could have used but I just cut them. A small piece of sponge was perfect to dab some snow onto the hills with the retired Pretty Peacock Ink. A bit of Splatter (See recipes)and the adorable penguin on the inside and I was almost done!
I also managed to use the Heartfelt Wishes Stamps on the inside for the sentiment. I really love that Merry Christmas sentiment! As a matter of fact, something really funny happened in the Paper Pumpkin Zoom Night. I was kind of flipid that evening as I was still not feeling like my regular self after being ill for more than a week. But I was making the best of it.
So, when I grabbed the Heartfelt Wishes Stamps to look at the cover to remind myself which sentiment I wanted I first saw the “Happiest Holidays” sentiment. In that split second, I thought “No Way” I want something traditional!! I happened to see and remember the “Merry Christmas” and blurted out “Happiest Holidays? Oh hell no! I want Merry DAMN Christmas”!! Whoops. There I go again tellin’ it like it is. But everyone laughed and totally agreed with me. So Merry Damn Christmas it was. That’s when Karie-Ann said I should use a tiny triangle and add it to the sentiment. Which of course I did. This will be her Christmas Card this year!! haha
